Getting Hired
Tip #6: A Lunch/Dinner Interview is Still an Interview, Adam Scholl
There will come a time when your interview will consist of a lunch and/or dinner. It shocks me that so many people believe this is an opportunity to eat a free meal and act as though they are hanging out with their college friends. These times are meant for you to shine, not eat a great meal. In fact, your impression on your interviewers starts with being conscious of what you eat. Order food that you can eat in small bites and that do not require a lot of cutting. Also, be sure to order an inexpensive meal as it will demonstrate your courtesy to your hosts. Remember that these times are meant for you to talk and to show your interviewers that you are a consummate professional – each time and at every occasion.
